Was there snow storms in Alabama too? I've always considered it a warm, typical down-south state. I read about the D.C storms and basically it looks like our big cities couple of days ago
This has been great winter, like the ones I remember from my childhood. Of course, places like D.C, London etc. that are not used to such weather every year were paralyzed by this "catastrophy". Simply, they are not prepared for things that don't happen so often.
A friend of mine is in a animation school in Maidstone, UK. She told me how British freaked out the winter. Walking on a snowy street, her boyfriend was carefully taking one step at the time in some sort of "special" snow footwear he had just purchased, while my friend would be strutting ten meters in front in her heels. It feels just so strange to hear something like that
